I recently had dinner at the Elk and Oarsman in Banff and really enjoyed the place as well as the food. The place is right on the main street (119 Banff Avenue) and is quite neatly divided into two main rooms (apparently they also have a nice patio in summer). The atmosphere is casual, pub-like, with a mountain chalet feel and lots of tv sets (for the sports fans out there). I had the salmon pomegrante salad ($14) which was very good. I really enjoyed the combination of greens, blueberries and cashew nuts. My party got the bison burger ($13.5) which came with soup and french fries. For a party of two, including a tea and a glass of red wine, the bill came to $46 (with gst and tip).
